Fact Sheet for 6A and 6B
The BOARD DESIGNERS--will create the BOARD.
The board should be the size of a checkerboard and should illustrate the landscape, trade, and industry of the period. Not to worry--you will be given a checkerboard from which to work.
The board designers in 6A will create a board that depicts a “village” The villagers will travel to the fair. The board designers in 6B will create a board that depicts a “town and castle”. You may include a “spinner” or “dice” so that the tokens can advance.

The TOKEN DESIGNERS--will create the classes such as kings, knights, nobles, and peasants that will move from the outer edges to the center for the “fair”. You may not cut and paste from the Internet to create your TOKENS. These must be hand drawn using the paint program OR you can use another medium such as clay. Your tokens may be made of materials that you have or that I can bring to class. You should NOT go out and buy materials for this project. Will your maidens be fair and will your knights be strong?
The token designers in 6A will create 6 “players” who will be traveling to the village fair. They are a king, a knight, a page, a serf (peasant), a lord, and a journeyman. The token designers in 6B will create 6 “players” who will be traveling to the town fair. They are aknight, a queen, a freemason, a maiden, a bishop, and a baron.

The PLAYERS--will create the CARDS that will be drawn by the players OR STONES that make a path on the board game that help the tokens make their way to the fair. This group must know A LOT about the “life and times” so that obstacles, delays, or help are integrated with the classes--people--of the times. How many spaces will a token have to advance for good deeds or go back because of disease? Will a token be infected by the BLACK PLAGUE?
The players in 6A may create 6 sets of 8 cards each. Each set will correspond with something that may happen to the “player”-- king, a knight, a page, a serf (peasant), a lord, and a journeyman. The cards can be made on the computer and should be about 3 X 4 inches each. One side can be the outer part of a playing card and the other side should contain the obstacle or help command. OR you may create stones that make a path on the board with everyday occurrences that affected life in medieval times.

The PROGRAM DIRECTORS--will create directions to the game that make this a challenge. This group needs to work closely with the board designers so that the board layout and the directions MAKE SENSE. You will be the first to PLAY the game--to make sure that a WINNER is secured!
The program directors need to work closely with the board designers so that the program directors know what the layout will look like and what kind of path a “player” will follow.

The ANNOUNCERS--will create the village fair announcement with information about the fair. The ANNOUNCERS will be photographed using the digital camera. This iMOVIE will be placed on this website!
The announcement needs to include lots of “slang” words used in this period. The announcers will dress as fair maidens, kings, or knights, for example, when we create the iMovie.

The MARKETING TEAM--will create the box that will hold the board game complete with a bar code and logo that will SELL this new game. This team will have to use exact measurements to create a way to box the board. Team members will use Adobe PhotoShop and Paint to create the bottom, top, and sides of the packaging. This MUST be a HOT SELLER on the market! Why will kids want to buy your game instead of another game on the market?
The marketing team will need to follow a similar design that is used by the board designers for consistency. The box that holds the board and all its pieces must include a bar code, a logo, and lots of graphics! Measurements must be exact.
