The objective of this project is to create a new computer-generated board game--a medieval life board game--where people of the period will travel from the outer edge to a place in the village or town. Class 6A will create a village layout for the game and the tokens/people will travel to the fair. Class 6B will create a town and castle layout for their game and the tokens/people will travel to the fair. Each will, of course, move backward and forward depending on the CARDS drawn OR the stones that they move upon, the course of their travels, and the obstacles they will face or the help that is given to them by others making their way to the fair too.
In order to create this game, you must know A LOT about the classes of people, the architecture of the medieval ages, the government, medicine, and entertainment of this period, and the dress and “armor”.
Each group will receive a FACT SHEET and SPECIFIC directions for creating their portion of the game.
The BOARD DESIGNERS--will create the BOARD. The board should be the size of a checkerboard and should illustrate the landscape, trade, and industry of the period. Not to worry--you will be given a checkerboard from which to work.
The TOKEN DESIGNERS--will create the classes such as kings, knights, nobles, and peasants that will move from the outer edges to the center for the “fair”. You may not cut and paste from the Internet to create your TOKENS. These may be hand drawn using the paint program OR you may use clay or another medium. Will your maidens be fair and will your knights be strong?
The PLAYERS--will create the CARDS OR STONES that will be drawn/moved upon by players making their way to the fair. This group must know A LOT about the “life and times” so that obstacles, delays, or help are integrated with the classes--people--of the times. Will a token be infected by the BLACK PLAGUE?
The PROGRAM DIRECTORS--will create directions to the game that make this a challenge. This group needs to work closely with the board designers so that the board layout and the directions MAKE SENSE. You will be the first to PLAY the game--to make sure that a WINNER is secured!
The ANNOUNCERS--will create the village fair announcement with information about the fair. The ANNOUNCERS will be photographed using the digital camera. The iMOVIE will be placed on this web site!
The MARKETING TEAM--will create the box that will hold the board game complete with a bar code and logo that will SELL this new game. This team will have to use exact measurements to create a way to box the board. Team members will use Adobe PhotoShop and Paint to create the bottom, top, and sides of the packaging. This MUST be a HOT SELLER on the market!
